Music Lessons

Acoustic and electric guitar, including strumming, finger-picking and plectrum techniques, for pop, folk, country, blues and improvisation styles. The focus is to develop one's own musical 'voice' with a solid foundation in technique

Paul was taught to play keyboards by the talented Australian jazz pianist/composer, Terence Koo (, and the instrument has helped to enrich his creative output as a song writer

He teaches straight and blues style mouth organ, influenced by many players including Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Paul Butterfield

Electric Bass
Teaching both finger style and plectrum bass techniques and developing a solid feel for the rhythm underlying a song

As well as teaching instruments, Paul (who is a professional singer/songwriter) can teach students to sing while playing

Paul is a member of the Performing Rights Society (PRS), has a Graduate Diploma in Teaching and a Master's Degree in Visual and Performing Arts. He lives in Enfield, north London where he teaches at his home studio (easily accessible by bus or train with easy parking). Some home tuition may be available.

Paul was born and raised in Sacramento, California took a bachelor's degree in psychology, and then travelled to the south Pacific kingdom of Tonga as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer.

Finding this a life-changing experience, it led him to live in New Zealand for a year before migrating to Australia and it was "down under" where he developed his career as a professional musician.

Primarily a singer/songwriter, he learned to play guitar and keyboards in order to accompany himself as a solo performer. Also he played with several bands and many musicians over the years, including the brilliant guitarist, Kirk Lorange (

Paul plays both acoustic and electric guitars, as well as keyboards, harmonica, bass and a little bit of mandolin and accordion. Musically multi-skilled, he even played trombone as a child.

A passionate and enthusiastic teacher, his love of music makes lessons fun!
